One of our goals as a company is to spread the making of innovative theatre through our devised theatre technique, our focus on story, and our core concept of Actor as Creator. By providing workshops to schools, universities, and theatre companies or groups interested in learning more from and about us as a company, we share our methods and abilities with others, in order to pass on the theatrical language and tools we believe are necessary for artists in creating their own work.
We tailor these workshops specifically to meet the needs, desires, and means of the groups to which we bring them, varying from puppet-building and implementation workshops in connection with specific productions, to college workshops focused on devised theatre and our method of adapting text or stories towards full stage productions. In July of 2017, we traveled to Catawba College in Salisbury, NC for a workshop with the theatre department there. This particular workshop served as a precursor for future visits in 2018 & 2019, when Catawba will host us as resident artists to co-teach classes and develop a production with the students for their mainstage season!
In February of 2018, we traveled to Douglas Anderson School for the Arts in Jacksonville, FL, for a workshop with the high-school students there focused on physical and elemental work with text. We are returning to DAS in August 2018 for another workshop intensive towards casting and developing a production with the students to be staged in October 2018!
